Equipment:

  1. Chalk or tape to mark squares
  2. Different colored markers (optional)

How to play?

  1. Use chalk or tape to create a series of squares on the ground. Start with a single square and add more adjacent squares in a row.
  2. Assign a different color to each square using markers (optional). This adds a vibrant and visually appealing element to the game.
  3. Decide on a specific pattern or sequence to follow. For example, it could be hopping on one foot, then both feet, or using specific foot combinations.
  4. The first player stands behind the starting square and tosses a small object, such as a pebble or beanbag, into square number one.
  5. The player then hops or jumps through the squares, following the pattern, while avoiding stepping on the square with the object. They must skip that square and continue to the next one.
  6. Upon reaching the end of the sequence, the player turns around and jumps back, collecting the object along the way.
  7. If the player successfully completes the pattern without stepping on the wrong square or losing balance, they continue to the next round, repeating the steps with the object thrown into square number two. If they make a mistake, the turn passes to the next player.
  8. The game continues with players taking turns until all the squares have been completed.

Conclusion

Rainbow Squares offers an engaging and colorful twist to traditional hopscotch, encouraging children to develop their motor skills, balance, and focus. Let the vibrant squares guide you on a hopping adventure!
